Obituary for David C. McPolin

David C. McPolin
David C. McPolin, 60, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away surrounded by his loving family on May 7, 2017, after receiving extraordinary care at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold, NJ.
David was born May 7, 1957, to Marilyn Veronica McPolin and David Kevin McPolin in Brooklyn, N.Y. He moved to Jackson at the young age of 5. He was a graduate of Jackson Memorial High School and later graduated from Monmouth University with a Business Administration degree. Soon after graduating High School, David began working in the mailroom at Newsweek Magazine in NY. In 1980, he married his treasured wife, Ellen (Malter), at Saint Aloysius Parish in Jackson. Over the course of his life, David devoted 40 years as Director of Operations first at Newsweek Magazine, NYC (1977-1999), then at Columbia University Law School, NYC (1999-2008), and finally at Simon Property Group, Toms River, NJ (2008-2017). All in which he managed every detail of his responsibilities accordingly. David was, in all sense of the word, a perfectionist; weighing each component of his assignment with explicit detail and care.
David was a strong, well respected, proud public servant. Aside from being loyal members of the Lakewood Elks Lodge, David and Ellen volunteered lots of their time assisting in events to help local special-needs children. David always felt that he was given a beautiful life, so in-turn, it was his mission to give back in any way that he could. David devoted countless hours to organizing Charity Balls, Gift Auctions, and other fundraising events all in the effort to send children to Camp Moore - a center that helps develop the recreational and social skills of special-needs children.
David also had a fondness for the outdoors, whether it was planting and admiring the flowers around their home, enjoying their backyard fire pit, peach picking, camping with his family, or listening to music while barbecuing on his deck. He was a simple man, who lived each day with purpose.
David is predeceased by his father, David K. McPolin; and brother-in-law, Walter Conrad. Surviving family members include his wife and sweetheart of 37 years, Ellen, his pride and joy; his two children, daughter, Jessica and significant other, Jarrett Young; son, Kevin and fiancé, Linda DiCroce. David is also survived by his mother, Marilyn; and his four sisters, Kathleen (Martin McCarthy), Marion (John Fenimore), Eileen (Don Rose), and Diane (Omar El Fashny). David will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation from 3 to 8 PM on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at the George S. Hassler Funeral Home, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. A funeral gathering will be offered at 8:30 AM on Friday, May 12, 2017, at the funeral home. His Funeral Liturgy will follow at 9:30 AM at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 935 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ. Entombment will follow in Holy Cross Burial Park, 840 Cranbury Rd., East Brunswick, NJ 08816. In honor of David’s memory, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2310 Rt. 34, Suite 1D, Manasquan, NJ 08736 or to the Lakewood Elks Lodge #1432, PO Box 1432, Lakewood, NJ 08701 and would be greatly appreciated.
