Obituary for Louise DeMasi (Danton)
LOUISE ELIZABETH DEMASI, 75, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away in her home on September 21, 2022. She was surrounded by children and grandchildren. Louise was born September 28, 1946, at Newark’s St. Barnabas Hospital to Albert and Carmela Danton. She grew up in Bloomfield, NJ, and graduated from East Orange Catholic High School in 1964. She married Joseph V. DeMasi May 9, 1971, who she met while working at US Pipe in the 1960s. Joseph preceded her in death on September 24, 2019.
After marrying, the couple lived in the Branch Brook section of Newark before moving to Old
Bridge in 1975, where they would raise their four children. Louise was, first and foremost, a
dedicated mother who treasured her children, Lisa Ferguson, Francesca DeMasi, Joseph DeMasi
and Andrea Quinlan and embraced every moment with them. Always involved, Louise was
endlessly active in the lives of her children, serving as a volunteer for the Girl Scouts, youth
soccer, band and Little League. In later years, Louise cherished her role as grandmother to
Devon Mulrine, Brandon Ferguson, Gianna Ferguson, Mia DeMasi, Jonathan Quinlan and Eliana
Quinlan. She was loved dearly by all her children and grandchildren, including her three children through marriage, Joseph Ferguson, Asako DeMasi and Brian Quinlan.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visitation from 12-2 & 4-6 PM on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. A funeral gathering will be offered at 9 AM on Monday, September 26, 2022, at the funeral home. Her Funeral Liturgy will follow at 10 AM at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 935 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ. A private cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Louise’s memory to St. Benedicts Preparatory School, 520 Martin Luther King Blvd., Newark, NJ 07102 and would be greatly appreciated.
