Obituary for William Joseph Blake

WILLIAM JOSEPH BLAKE, 85, of Jackson Twp., NJ passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Twp., NJ. He was born in Staten Island, NY and resided in Avenel, NJ, prior to settling in Jackson Twp, 29 years ago.
William was a proud United States Veteran Serving in the Army during the Vietnam War and earning the Marksman (Rifle) medal.
He was employed as a senior investigator for the State of New Jersey Department of Corrections, Rahway, NJ, prior to his retirement.
William was a communicant of St Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, Jackson Twp., and a member of the American Legion Post 504, Jackson Twp.
He was a member of the Jackson Republican Club, Winding Ways Investment Club, and was active in the Veteran’s Memorial Gardens, and the Boy Scouts of America.
William was predeceased by his parents, Jeremiah “Grover” and Elizabeth “Bessy” Blake; and by his wife, Carolann V. Blake in Feb. 2022. He is survived by his son, Dr. Brian Blake and his wife, Annette of Loudon, NH; his daughter, Alyson Blake of Jackson Twp.; his grandchildren, Brianna Allmann and her husband, Will, Casey Caprio, Abigail Blake and her fiancé, David Sheehy, and Hunter Blake; and by his great grandchildren, William “Liam” Allmann, and Blake Allmann.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation from 4-7 PM on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME,980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ. A funeral gathering will be held at 9 AM on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at the funeral home. His Funeral Liturgy will follow at 10 AM at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 935 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp. A private cremation will follow.
