Obituary for Bruce H. Gataroska
BRUCE H. GATAROSKA, 76, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Monmouth Medical Center-Southern Campus, Lakewood Twp., NJ. He was born in Brooklyn, NY and resided in Ocean Twp., NJ, prior to settling in Jackson Twp., 17 years ago.
Bruce was a proud United States Veteran having served in the Army and achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
He was a graduate of Pace University, New York, NY.
Bruce was employed as a social studies teacher for the Board of Education, New York, NY, for 30 years prior to his retirement in 2005.
He was a member of Hope Presbyterian Church, Lakewood Twp., NJ.
Bruce enjoyed playing golf, stamp collecting, cruises, Atlantic City, playing bocce, watching sports on television, and going out to dinner. But his favorite thing to do was spend time with his children and grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas Michael and Johanna Marie Gataroska; and by his brother, Gary Gataroska. Bruce is survived by his wife of 17 years, Diane Gataroska; his daughters, Andrea Smith and her husband, Richard of Tinton Falls, NJ, Kathryn Healy and her fiancé, Robert Brodbeck of Port Monmouth, NJ, and Christina Wolf of Port Monmouth; and by his grandchildren, Kyla, Shawn, Andrew, Peyton, Catelyn, Mackenzie, Anthony, Madison, Brandon, James, Matthew, Harper, Bryce, and Donovan.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation from 4-8 PM on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at the GEORGE S HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ. A funeral gathering will be offered at 9 AM on Friday, May 6, 2022 at the funeral home, followed by his funeral service at 10 AM at Hope Presbyterian Church, 617 Hope Chapel Rd., Lakewood Twp., NJ. Interment will follow in Hope Presbyterian Cemetery, Lakewood Twp. Face masks are required for all services.
