Obituary for John R. Bambrick

JOHN R. BAMBRICK, 85, of Jackson Twp., NJ, Reposed in the Lord on April 8, 2022. He has resided in Jackson Twp., for the past 14 years. Prior to that, he resided in Matawan, NJ, and Keyport, NJ.
He was a 1955 graduate of Red Bank Catholic High School, inducted into the Hall of Fame as a member of the 1954 Undefeated State Football Champions. After High School he played Semi-Pro Football with the Keyport Dukes and was scouted for Professional Baseball.
John served for 9 years in the U.S. Army National Guard. He served many years on the Keyport First Aid Squad, where he met his wife, and was made an Honorary Life Member.
He was employed by JCP&L/First Energy for 42 years and was a proud member of I.B.E.W Local #1303, serving as a Shop Steward and Executive Board Treasurer.
John was a 3rd and 4th Degree Life Member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3402, and St. Joseph Assembly #0679, Keyport. He coached C.Y.O. Baseball, Basketball and Softball.
A life-long devote Catholic, never without his Rosary. His Irish family were founding members of St. Joseph Church, Keyport. For the past 14 years he was a Communicant of St. Aloysius Church, Jackson Twp.
He was predeceased by his Parents, James and Florence Bambrick; his Brother, James ‘Artie’ Bambrick; his Aunt, AnnaMae Strickland; his Brother-In-Law, Frank Nebus, Sr.; and by his Nephew, Frank Nebus, Jr.
He is survived by his Wife of 59 years, Carol Hyer Bambrick; his Son, Very Rev. John P. Bambrick, V.F.; his Daughter, Susan Bambrick; and the absolute joy of his life, his Grandchildren, Matthew P. Bly and Katie R. Bly. He is also survived by his Sister, Ann Nebus; Sister-in-law, Joyce Bambrick; Brother-in-law, Bill Hyer and his wife, Barbara; Niece, Maria Fayard; and by his Nephew, Scott Hyer; as well as many Brennan and Bailey Cousins.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation from 4-7 PM on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 935 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp. A repast will follow the wake in Gonzaga Hall. His Funeral Mass will be prayed at 10AM on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at the church. Interment will be private in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Keyport, NJ. Arrangements are under the care of the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp. In Lieu of Flowers the Family requests Masses offered for John through St. Mary Seminary in Kampala, Uganda or donation to St. Mary Seminary. Mass Cards or donation cards can be obtained at the Parish Office at St. Aloysius. Please make checks payable to St. Aloysius Church.
