Obituary for Andrew Santiago

ANDREW SANTIAGO, 87, of Jackson Twp., NJ, departed this life at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood Twp., NJ, on Sunday, July 18, 2021, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born on June 6, 1934, in Bronx, NY, to Andres Santiago and Zulma Matos. During his lifetime, he was a proud veteran who served his country during the Korean War, in the United States Navy, and later went on to work as a foreign exchange trader for First Fidelity Bank of Newark, NJ. Andrew’s work ethic and desire to provide a good life for his family led him to also work a second job in sanitation for many years.
Andrew was a devoted member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, in Howell Twp., NJ.
During his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family, often traveling to his second home in Lake George, NY. He enjoyed leisurely meals with his loved ones, floating in his tube at the lake, reading the paper, and most of all, relaxing. He took a memorable cruise to Alaska with his wife, Janet and saw some of the most beautiful scenery in this country.
He was a devoted husband and a caretaker to his wife at the end of her life, making her meals in bed, making her laugh, and even trying to fill her shoes with holiday wrapping.
Andrew’s hard work and sacrifice built a life filled with memories that will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife, Janet; his daughter, Laura Emerson-Pochinski; and by his sister, Anna Otero. Andrew is survived by his children, Donna Dufifie and her husband, Michael, John Santiago, Erica Georgiano and her husband, Dominick, and Dale; his grandchildren, Alicia and her husband, Ed, Ryan, Abby, Casey and her husband, James, Eric, Natalya, Ayden, Alex, and Jonathan; his great grandson, Edison; and by his siblings, Fred Rivas and Chickie (Flora) Espinosa.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his memorial service at 11 AM on Monday, August 23, 2021 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 434 Aldrich Rd., Howell Twp., NJ 07731.
