Obituary for Dolores Maher Kern (Maher)
DOLORES MAHER KERN, “Aunt Dolores”, 80, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021, surrounded by her adoring family. She was born in County Mayo Balla, Ireland, one of 15 children. She came to the United States when she was 19 years old and resided in the Bronx, NY. She was employed by Dunn & Bradstreet and American Airlines before moving to Jackson with her husband Edward and beginning their family.
She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Edward Kern; her parents, John and Anne Maher; her siblings, Julia Gorzkiewicz, Gerry, Jack, Seamus, Kathleen and Frank Maher. Dolores is survived by her children; John Kern and his wife, Maria, Andrew Kern and his wife, Wendy, Maureen Frascello and her husband, John, Elizabeth Nolan and her husband, Erik, Catherine Kern, and Angela Mosbrucker and her husband, Clint; her grandchildren, Daniel, Kyle, Cori, Devin, Jordan, Mark, Patrick, Brennan, Ashlyn, Mia, Isabella, Salvatore, Emma, and Jack; and by her siblings Anne, Noreen, Theresa, Patrick, Muredach, Christina, Grace and Tony.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visitation from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, on Friday, July 9, 2021 at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ. A funeral gathering will be offered at 9 AM on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at the funeral home. Her Funeral Liturgy will follow at 10 AM at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 935 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ. Interment will follow in St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, 1 Honey Locust Drive, Lakewood Twp., NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested to please send contributions in Dolores’s memory to Big Hearts to Little Hearts, PO Box 597, Spring Lake, NJ 07762, www.bighearts2littlehearts.com, an organization that was close to her heart, and raises money to fund research and help children who are born with Congenital Heart Disease like her granddaughter Isabella, and would be greatly appreciated.
