Obituary for Anna DeSimone DeMers

ANNA “ANN” DESIMONE DEMERS, 87, of Jackson Twp., NJ, has gone to be with the Lord on Monday, June 21, 2021.
Anna was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey on March 22, 1934. Anna was of Italian descent born to a Chef and a housewife. Anna was the 11th of 14 children. She was married in May 1954 to the love of her life, Joseph George DeMers and shortly after they welcomed three children George, Gennaro and Richard. They moved to Jackson, NJ in 1959.
In June of 1968, Anna lost her husband in a tragic car accident and had raised all three of her boys on her own. She was a strong, determined, and selfless woman who never stopped moving and always put her family first.
Anna was a lover of coffee and conversation. She will be remembered as a genuine, kind-hearted, and empathetic woman. She had an easy way of making everyone around her feel welcome and truly enjoyed her time with family and friends. Anna was swift, sharp, and compassionate up until the day she passed. In the later years of her life, she struggled to remember the new but could never forget the old. She worked for Frequency Engineering in Farmingdale for 20 years where she met her long-time companion, John Menschner. She was a member of Saint Aloysius parish and the Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed bowling and baking.
Anna was a devoted grandmother to all of her grandchildren. She showed up for every game, every graduation, every birthday, and any little thing that was important to her grandkids. She would never miss a phone call and would happily talk for hours. She was an amazing listener; your biggest supporter and you could always go to her for advice. She loved to gather her family for most holidays and small occasions to create and carry-on traditions. The memories made throughout the years will be cherished and held close to all of our hearts forever.
Anna was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. She is survived by her three sons, George DeMers, Gennaro DeMers, his wife Maria DeMers, and Richard DeMers; her grandchildren, Danielle DeMers, Gionni DeMers, Blaise DeMers, Monique DeMers, Bryana Bizonos and her husband Joseph Bizonos, Jaclyn Vagueiro, and her husband John Vagueiro, Geannine Hader and her husband Michael Hader, Gennaro DeMers, Ashlee Waugh; and her great grandchild, Matthew Waugh; her sister, Lois Scurese; her brother, Mario DeSimone; her sisters-in-law, Mary Jones, and Genevieve DeMers; her long- time companion, John Menschner; and by her friend, Lisa Ferraro. She also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends.
We will miss her every day.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visitation from 12-3 PM & 5-8 PM on Friday, June 25, 2021, at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ. A funeral gathering will be offered at 8 AM on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at the funeral home.
