Obituary for Lionel Fiquet

LIONEL FIQUET, 96, of Merritt Island, FL, passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 the at St. Francis Reflections Lifestage Care, Titusville, FL. He was born in Hoboken, NJ and resided in Howell Twp., NJ, prior to settling in Merritt Island, FL 36 years ago.
Lionel was a proud United States Veteran serving in the Navy during World War II, achieving the rank of Seaman First Class. He earned the Philippine Liberation Ribbon-1 Star, Victory Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon-2 Stars, and the American Theatre Ribbon.
He was employed as an electrician for New York Transit Authority, New York, NY for 35 years prior to his retirement in 1984.
Lionel was predeceased by his parents, George and Juliette Fiquet; his grandson, Nicholas Cavezza; and by his wife, Joan Fiquet in 1983. He is survived by his sons, George Fiquet and his wife, Kathy of Brick Twp., NJ, and Paul Fiquet and his wife, Donna of Palm Bay, FL; his daughters Jeanette Gifford and her husband, Doug of Howell Twp., NJ, Elizabeth Walag and her husband, Ralph of Manchester, NJ, and Joan Cavezza and her husband, Peter of Howell Twp.; his grandchildren, Jessica, Meghan, Kathleen, Rebecca, Barbara, Matthew, Renee, Alexander, Alyssa, Lisa, Stephen, Sarah and Shawn; and by his great grandchildren, Aubrey, Mason, Logan, Natalie, Haley, Cassie, Chase, Devin, Kaitlin, Maddox, Mikayla, Madison, Sarah and Harper.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his graveside funeral service at 11 AM on Monday, March 29, 2021 in St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, 1 Honey Locust Dr., Lakewood Twp., NJ 08701. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Lionel’s memory to St. Francis Reflections Lifestage Care Hospice, 1250-B Grumman Pl., Titusville, FL 32780, and would be greatly appreciated. CDC attendance guidelines will be followed, and face masks are required for all services.
