Obituary for Nicholas Pizzino, Jr.

NICHOLAS PIZZINO, JR., 87, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2020, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Twp., NJ. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, and has resided in Jackson Twp., for the past 30 years.
Nicholas was a proud United States Navy Veteran serving during the Korean War, earning the National Defense Service Ribbon.
He was a self-employed owner of Carvel and later Carmela’s Ice Cream Shop, for 25 years. Prior to that, he owned a butcher shop in Brooklyn, NY for over 35 years.
Nicholas was a member of AmVets Post #2, Jackson Twp.
He loved to golf and play pool with his friends, but mostly loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Nicholas was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Carmela Pizzino; and by his sisters, Marie Bell and Julia Andreacchio. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carmela Pizzino; his daughters, Camille Mittiga and her husband, Dominick of Manalapan, NJ and Diane Piasentini and her husband, Peter of Ortley Beach, NJ; his grandchildren, Samantha, Michael, Joseph, Marisa, Nicole, and Michael J.; and by his great grandchildren, Dominic, Shane, Zachary, and Leo.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation from 10:30 AM-12:30 PM, on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp. His funeral service will follow at 12:30 PM at the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Rd., Arneytown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Nicholas’ memory to AmVets Post 2, 1290 Toms River Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527, and would be greatly appreciated.
