Obituary for Joseph James Scalzo, Jr.
JOSEPH JAMES SCALZO, JR., 75, of Howell Twp., NJ, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday, April 3, 2020, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, NJ. He was born in Hoboken, NJ, and grew up in Secaucus, NJ, and lived in Leonardo, NJ, for 27 years, prior to settling in Howell Twp., 16 years ago.
Joseph graduated from Montclair State College and was employed as a High School Teacher before being employed as an engineer with NYNEX, Manhattan, NY, for 27 years prior to his retirement. After retiring, Joseph went back to teaching as a substitute teacher in Keansburg, NJ, for several years.
He was a communicant of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, Jackson Twp., NJ and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #6201.
Joseph was also active with the Boy Scouts of America and Caregivers of central New Jersey.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Scalzo of Howell Twp.; his sons, David Scalzo and his wife, Susan of Howell Twp., and Paul Scalzo and his wife, Kate of Howell Twp.; his 5 grandchildren; his brother, Phillip Scalzo; and by his sister, Susan Scalzo and Mike of Las Vegas, NV.
