Obituary for Romola Durana

ROMOLA JOHANNA DURANA. 91, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2020. She was born in Brooklyn, NY.
She had a long and varied work experience. Beginning in 1955, she worked for American Airlines in the reservation department in the Chrysler Building, where one of her duties was assisting blind passengers by transcribing braille. After retiring from American Airlines she worked for Shell Oil in the customer service department. After retiring from Shell Oil she moved to Wilson, NC and worked for the Wilson Daily Time Newspaper in the Retention Department.
As an American Airlines employee/retiree she took advantage of the traveling
opportunities available to her and traveled around the world, including the Caribbean, Europe, Asia and across the United States.
In addition to her traveling, Romola put her time to good use in her business world and her community. She was President and later "Woman of the Year" of the American Business Women Association. She was also Treasurer of the Welcome Wagon in Tulsa, OK.
Her hobbies were ceramics, oil painting and china painting.
She was predeceased by her husband, Stephen P. Durana; her parents, Louis and Immaculate Viviano; her sister, Geri Wayne; her son, Ronald Abidin; her grandson, Derek Abidin; and her grandson, Louis Hopper. Romola is survived by her children, Dr. Robert Abidin and wife, Kathleen of West Grove, PA; her son, Randy Abidin and wife, Jean of Ann Arbor, MI; her daughter, Nora Blalock of Raleigh, NC; her daughter, Denise Miller and husband, Ned of Corolla, NC; her grandson, Brandon Abidin and wife, Jennifer of Baton Rouge, LA; her grandson, Robert Abidin III of Daytona Beach, FL; her grandson,Christopher Abidin of Falls Church, VA; her granddaughter, Dr. Caitlin Schonewolf and husband, Kenneth of Ann Arbor, MI; her grandson, Arthur Hopper of Midland, TX; her granddaughter, Jaden DisDier of Pikeville, NC; and her seven great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral gathering at 8:15 AM, on Wednesday, February 26, 2020, followed by her funeral service at 9:00 AM, at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Road, Jackson Twp. Entombment will follow in St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, 1 Honey Locust Drive, Lakewood, NJ 08701.
