Obituary for Maureen "Auntie Cook" Burns
MAUREEN “COOKIE” BURNS, 75, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2019, at home. She was born September 3, 1944, in Hoboken, NJ, where she grew up. Although currently retired, she worked in the insurance and pharmaceutical industries during her professional years.
Cookie or Auntie, as she is known by her 7 great nieces and nephews, loved life’s simple pleasures such as, playing casino penny slots, watching the children play sports, and keeping up with her pen pals. She was a big dog lover, always pointing out every dog she saw.
She is survived by her nephew, Mike Taibl and his wife, Tanya, and their two children; her niece, Staci Savage and her son; her niece, Troy Hickey and her daughter; and by her nephew Chris Taibl and his wife, Melissa, and their three children. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Peter and Margarete Burns; her sister, Mary Lou Taibl; and by her brother, Peter Burns.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visitation from 6-8 PM on Friday, October 18, 2019, at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527.
