DONATO D’ELENA, 96, of West Milford, NJ, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2019, at Sunrise at Jackson, Jackson Twp., NJ. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, and resided in St. Petersburg, FL, and Jackson Twp., NJ, prior to settling in West Milford, NJ, 4 years ago.
Donato was a United States Veteran serving in the Army during World War II, and earning the Purple Heart, the World War II Victory Medal, American Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.
He was employed as a carpenter at Linden StoreFront for 30 years, prior to his retirement in October 1981.
Donato was predeceased by his parents Augustine and Asunta D’Elena; and by his wife, Ida D’Elena. He is survived by his son, Dan D’Elena and his wife, AnneMarie of West Milford, NJ; his daughter, Janet Buonantony and her husband, Mike of Jackson Twp., his 5 grandchildren; his 5 great grandchildren; and by his brother, John D’Elena of Naples, FL.
