Obituary for Robert V. Sorger
ROBERT V. SORGER, 91, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2019, at CareOne-Jackson, Jackson Twp. He was born in Bronx, NY, and lived in Little Ferry, NJ, prior to settling in Jackson Twp., 22 years ago.
Robert was a United States Veteran serving in the Navy during World War II.
He was a single maintainer for NY transit trains for New York Transit for 46 years prior to his retirement.
Robert was a member and ex-chief of the Little Ferry Hook and Ladder Fire Department for 40 years.
He was predeceased by his parents, Francis and Mary Sorger. Robert is survived by his wife of 65 years, Angelina Sorger; his sons, Robert Sorger and his wife, Penni, and Richard Sorger and his wife, Annette; his daughter, Regina Ullmer and her husband Steven; his 7 grandchildren, Danny, Elizabeth and her husband, Ryan, Robert, Ryan and his wife, Kerensa, Michael, Toni-Lyn, and Maddie; his great granddaughter, Layla; and by his brother, Francis and his wife Alma.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation from 2-6 PM on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ. A funeral gathering will be offered at 8:30 AM on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at the funeral home, followed by his funeral liturgy at 9:30 AM at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 935 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ. Interment with military honors will follow in the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Rd., Arneytown, NJ 08562.
