Obituary for John Edward Syarto

JOHN EDWARD SYARTO, 85, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019, at home. He was born in Linden, NJ, and resided there until settling in Jackson Twp., 20 years ago.
John was a United States Army Veteran.
He was employed as the Director of Quality Control for both Revlon, Edison, NJ, for 20 years, and Bristol Myers for 18 years. He was also employed as a part time Broker/Salesman at Silverman Associates, Linden, NJ, for 25 years. After his retirement, John was employed part time as a Broker/Salesman at Exit Realty, Jackson Twp., and also worked part time at Walmart of Howell, NJ.
At the age of 79, he excitedly decided to return to real estate and was the oldest person to take and pass the Real Estate exam, learning to use a computer for the first time, and began successfully working at Exit Reality in Jackson Twp.
John was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Linden, NJ, and was responsible for the creation of the Good Neighbor Program in Winding Ways, to help elderly neighbors.
He was a witness to the Hindenburg disaster with his dad and was interviewed by the press in 2017, for the Hindenburg’s 80th anniversary!
John was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Susan Syarto; his daughter, Cynthia Phillips; his son-in-law, Jerry Accomando; his brother, Fr. Andrew Syarto; and by his sisters, Sr. Elizabeth Syarto, and Elizabeth Stefanick. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Margaret Syarto of Jackson Twp.; his daughter, Cathleen Accomando of Jackson Twp.; his grandchildren, Melissa Reinertsen and her husband, Brian of Beachwood, NJ, and Katherine Aquino and her husband, Salvatore of Staten Island, NY; and by his Great granddaughter, Olivia Grace Reinertsen.
Arrangements will be private. A Memorial Mass and celebration of life will be held during the summer for our wonderful family and friends. Arrangements are under the care of the GEORGE S.
