Obituary for Joseph Gerard Moroney
JOSEPH GERARD MORONEY, 79, of Jackson Twp., NJ passed away on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, NJ surrounded by his loving family. He was born in the Bronx, NY, settling in Jackson Twp. in 1968.
Mr. Moroney worked for J. P. Morgan in New York City as a tax accountant for 30 years before retiring.
Joseph was a United States Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War and received the Good Conduct Medal.
Joseph was a long-time communicant of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church in Jackson Twp. In addition, he was a member of the American Legion Post 504 in Jackson Twp. and the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 12.
Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Patrick and Mary Moroney and by his daughter, Mary. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ann; his sons, Gerard Moroney and his wife, Julie of Fair Haven, NJ and Matthew Moroney and his wife, Michelle of Jackson Twp., NJ; his daughters, Amy Kielkowski and her husband, Joseph of Manchester Twp., NJ and Susan Moroney Covey and her husband, Rich of Bradley Beach, NJ; and by his grandchildren, Gehrig, Reece, Abigail, Faith, Anna, Joseph and Jake.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation on Thursday, December 27, 2018 from 4-8 PM at The GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ. A funeral gathering will be offered on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 9:00 AM at the funeral home. His Funeral Liturgy will follow at 10:00 AM at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 935 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ. A private cremation will follow. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made in the memory of Joseph to the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 12, P.O. Box 276, Allenhurst, NJ 07711. Inurnment with military honors will be in the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown, in the near future.
