Obituary for David S. Macdonald
DAVID S. MACDONALD, 85, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019, after a short illness, surrounded by his family. David was a devoted husband of 63 years to his beloved wife, Joan Macdonald, loving father to his three children, and extremely proud grandfather of 6 grandchildren. He was born in Elizabeth, NJ, and resided in Springfield, NJ, prior to settling in Jackson Twp., 19 years ago.
David was a United States Army Veteran earning the rank of Sergeant.
He was employed as a Letter Carrier for the Springfield, NJ Post Office for 39 years prior to his retirement in 1995. David also worked as a Financial Advisor for 35 years.
He was a member of the Westlake Men’s Club and Bocce Club. He also was instrumental in the start up of the Westlake Journal and wrote the financial column for many years.
David is survived by his wife, Joan M. Macdonald; his children, Beverly Furze and her husband, William, Diane Tarabour and her husband, Richard, and Edward Macdonald and his wife, Donna; and by his 6 grandchildren, Erik Furze and his wife, Zoe, Morgan Furze, Brittany Tarabour, Alexandra Tarabour, David Macdonald, and Brandon Aspinwall.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Memorial Gathering from 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM followed by his Memorial Service at 12:30 PM on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. Inurnment with Military Honors will follow in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Rd., Arneytown, NJ 08562. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in David’s memory to Shriners Hospital for Children, 3551 North Broad St., Philadelphia, PA 19140 and would be greatly appreciated.
