Obituary for Richard A. Corallo

Richard A. Corallo
RICHARD A. CORALLO, 60, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at home surrounded by his wife and daughters. He was born in Elizabeth, NJ and resided in Middletown, NJ, prior to settling in Jackson 31 years ago.
Richard was a self-employed Excavator and Landscaper for 30 years.
He was predeceased by his parents, Santo and Frances Corallo; and by his brother, John S. Corallo. Richard is survived by his wife of 22 years, Christine of Jackson Twp.; His son RJ Corallo of Jackson; His daughters, Hayly Rode and her husband, Wayne of Howell, NJ, Lindsay Corallo of Jackson, and Samantha Corallo of Jackson; his grandchildren, Nicolette and Evan Rode; his sisters, Sandra Williams and her husband Michael of Forked River, NJ, Antoinette Pugliese of Jackson Twp., and Carla Corallo of Freehold, NJ; his father-in-law Frank Matullo and his mother-in-law Linda Matullo of Little River, SC; his brother-in-law Frank Matullo and his wife, Dawn of Bayville, NJ, his brother-in-law, Danny Matullo and his wife, Debra of Appomattox, VA; and by his many loved and adored nieces and nephews.
Rick fought a long, courageous battle with cancer with humility and strength. Though at times it wasn’t easy he did it with a smile on his face, cracking silly jokes or talking in one of his many accents. Even during the various, unpleasant chemo treatments and hospitalizations he always made the situation seem brighter by making all of the nurses, aides, and receptionists laugh.
Family was such an important part of his life. He helped coach baseball and basketball for his son RJ’s teams, his daughter Lindsay’s soccer and basketball teams, and his daughter Samantha’s basketball team. When his daughter Hayly bought a house he landscaped the entire front yard with plants from his private “collection.” He loved to be active and outdoors all the time, especially to work in his garden-- even if it was 500 degrees outside. He was always the life of the party and family gatherings, and commanded the room with his impression of a fire engine siren. In the words of his nephew, Jack Weinstein, “he is probably the President of Heaven, making everyone laugh.” He was truly a remarkable, funny, loving and kind man that touched so many lives and will be remembered by all.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation from 2-4 & 6-8 PM on Monday, October 15, 2018, at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ. A funeral gathering will be offered at 8:30 AM on Tuesday October 16, 2018 at the funeral home. His funeral liturgy will follow at 9:30 AM at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 935 Bennetts Mill Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ. A private cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions be made in Richard’s memory to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, PO Box 27106, New York, NY 10087-7106 www.mskcc.org and would be greatly appreciated.
