Obituary for Mary Ann Polimeni

MARY ANN POLIMENI, 84, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018 in Jackson Township, NJ, surrounded by her devoted family and friends.
Mary was born on August 4, 1933, to Mary Trezza (deceased February 2018) and Attilio Sirignano (deceased 1945). She was an only child, but always dreamed of having a big loving family.
After graduating from Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn, NY, Mary danced professionally and performed at Carnegie Hall. She was also part of a Roller Derby team. Mary had a passion for Italian cooking which included cooking for a catering company in Staten Island, NY. Family Sunday dinners and holidays with family were her favorite times and all in attendance were sent home with leftovers for a weeks worth of dinners! Mary loved Elvis and enjoyed Tasty Cakes, Bingo, trips to Atlantic City and scratch off lottery tickets. Mary was also generous, often donating to children’s charities, even during financially difficult times for her. Mary was loved by everyone she met and made friends wherever she went, whether it be the super market, drug store or the other places she would frequent.
Mary raised her four children with the help of her mother Mary who she lived with most of their lives. They were very devoted to each other and passed away within months of each other. Mary worked at JC Penney in Staten Island for several years. After Mary retired, she moved to Holiday City in Toms River in 1998 where she lived with her mother and daughter and where she devoted her time to helping raise her grandsons Alex and Nicholas Polimeni.
Mary lived for her family. Her children and grandchildren near and far were her pride and joy. Mary was predeceased by her daughter Debra Conroy. She is survived by her sons Richard, Joseph and Anthony Polimeni, daughter-in-laws who she loved as daughters, Patricia, Betty and Dawn. Granddaughter Janice Taylor (married to Darryl), grandsons Joseph (married to Courtney), Edward (married to Theresa), Alexander and Nicholas Polimeni. Great grandchildren, Jayvon & Kobe Taylor, Keller, Kendall, Crosby, and Dominic Polimeni. Mary is also survived by her friend of 60 years and ultimately the love of her life, Angelo Disomma.
The family is comforted knowing that Mary has been reunited with her daughter, mother and father who she missed terribly.
The Polimeni family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the loving staff of the Orchards of Bartley Assisted living facility in Jackson, NJ.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her memorial visitation on Sunday, June 10, 2018, from 1 – 3 PM with a funeral service at 2:30PM at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Township, NJ 08527. Since Mary loved children, if so desired , memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Feed the Children, 333 N. Meridian, Oklahoma City, OK 73107, www.feedthechildren.org., and would be greatly appreciated.
