THOMAS R. ARTALE, 80, of Lakewood passed away Friday March 2, 2018. Born November 22, 1937, in Brooklyn NY, his family then moved to Jackson, NJ, in 1948, where he graduated Lakewood High School in 1955.
He held many jobs throughout his lifetime including 25 years as a machinist at Brockway Glass in Freehold, 10 years as a security guard at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, and 5 years in traffic and safety for the Lakewood Police Department.
Of the many sports he played in high school, Football and Basketball were his favorites. Later as an avid sports fan he loved the Mets, the Jets and the Knicks. He also loved to play Chess as well as teaching Chess at the Lakewood Public Library for many years.
Tom was also a member of Saint Mary of the Lake Parish for over 50 years.
Tom was greatly loved not only by his family but by anyone who knew him.
Predeceased by his parents Guido and Maria Artale; and his brother Joseph Artale all of Jackson. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Kathleen Boehmer Artale of Lakewood; his sister Rosemarie Kovacs; and his brother Richard Artale and his wife, Rosemarie. He has three cherished children, Theresa Orndorff and her husband John of Eatontown, Thomas R Artale, Jr. and his Wife Adena of Brick; and Dorothy Salinas and her husband Edgar of Jackson. Tom loved his four grandchildren, Rachel Orndorff, Sophie Artale, Thomas R Artale III and Ellie Salinas.
The Viewing will be held at George Hassler Funeral Home, 980 Bennetts Mills Road, Jackson, NJ 08527 on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 from 4pm-8pm. The Funeral Ceremony will be at the Mary Queen of Peace Mausoleum in the Saint Mary of the Lake Cemetery, 1 Honey Locust Drive, Lakewood, NJ 08701 on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 11am.
