JOSEPHINE ROSE AMBROSIO, 74, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Friday, March 2, 2018, at home. She was born in Jersey City, NJ, and resided there and in Edison, NJ, prior to settling in Jackson Twp., 6 years ago.
Josephine was employed as a Librarian at the North Edison Branch Public Library, Edison, NJ, for 31 years a prior to her retirement on September 1, 2011. Prior to that, she was employed for 10 years as an Administrative Assistant to the Senior Vice President at the American Stock Exchange, New York, NY, and for 5 years in the Actuary Department at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, New York, NY.
She was a member of the Lollipop Sorority (since age 17), the Four Seasons South Knolls, Jackson, NJ, Bowling League (The Bow Pins), Bocce League (The Unforgettables), Gals on the Go, Italian American Club, Showtime Club, Welcome Committee, Women’s Club, and she was also an Ambassador Desk Volunteer.
Josephine loved shopping (QVC), and getting her hair and nails done. She always smiled and loved playing cards and Yahtzee with her grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her Parents, Peter and Mary Manikas. Josephine is survived by her Husband of 52 years, Joseph Ambrosio of Jackson Twp., NJ; her Daughters, Nicole Magalhaes and her Husband, George of Waxhaw, NC, and Kristen McGarry and her Husband, James of Stewartsville, NJ; her 4 Grandchildren, Sofia and Anthony Magalhaes of Waxhaw, NC, and Thomas and Caroline McGarry of Stewartsville, NJ; and by her Granddog, Harley Magalhaes of Waxhaw, NC.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visitation from 2-8 PM on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. Her Funeral Liturgy will be offered at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 9, 2018 at St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church, 100 Main St. Marlboro, NJ. Please gather at 9:45 AM at the church. Entombment will follow in St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, 549 Rt. 520, Marlboro, NJ 07746. In Lieu of flowers, Contributions may be made in Josephine’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 2310 Route 34, Suite 1D, Manasquan, NJ 08736 and would be greatly appreciated.
