Condolences

Condolence From: Rachel your adoring grandaughter
Condolence: You were the epitome of what a grandmother should be. Your heart was big and generous, your hugs were frequent and your laugh was contagious. You had so much wisdom and your faith was truly amazing. You taught me how to bake, how to sew. I remember making sock dolls while we awaited the birth of my youngest sister Caitlin. I remember how you spoiled us, how you made the best grilled cheese sandwiches. How does placing a glass plate on top, flattening the sandwich make it so good?? You had a knack for making those around you feel important and loved. Our family IS because of you and your absence is painful. I wish I would have seen you one last time but I know I will see you again and feel your hugs and hear your laugh but until then know how missed and loved you are.

Condolence From: Leslie Ann Fraser, niece.
Condolence: Its heart breaking all over again... my mother passed 10 months ago, so it’s easy for these emotions to bubble up. My Dad loved his sister Mary dearly. She was a kind & loving person. He would tell stories about how she was his protector as well as role model. He trusted her with all that he was. She was a safe space for my Dad with his unbridled intellect & risk taking carefree nature. She admired his wit & good nature. My Dad seemed to love her as much as his other sweetheart, Grandmother Mae Geoghan. The best of the best. There was so much Compassion, kindness, gentleness & patience...the virtues that this world seems to have shunned; ... women had it hard back then; so hard... and women still have it hard; I think of all our mothers & grandmothers endured and they still were full of love, generosity & nurturing. I am happy that I got to see my Aunt Mary one recent Summer at a family reunion on SI. It will always be remembered it as one of my happiest days. To meet & be with family is always a sweet sweet experience.
I am pray for the souls of my Aunt Mary, all my grandparents and parents to feel the nearness of their spirits. I pray my Aunt’s passing was gentle. I pray her children & grandchildren get through these days. without too much pain & distress because our mothers never want us to suffer. These are the days when we gather closer to those who matter most & assess what Life really means & how unimportant it is to sweat the small stuff. Saying goodbye to our mothers on earth is hard... hard ...hard. It’s a time of grieving and reflection.
What I have learned over the past 10 months since my mother died is that our mothers are with us forever. They talk to us in so many ways, ideas, and things that just appear before us. My mother is always speaking to me, only as a mother can. Focus on the gratitude to have had our moms survive into their 80s. We roll with Life if we are wise rather than resist. We allow the feelings to come visit and acknowledge the rawness. Raw pain; raw love. It’s real. It’s human. It crests & flows. Nothing ever lasts but love. Focus then on the love. Aunt Mary radiated so much love.

Condolence: your mother was my dads (Alvin) sister. I only met her once, but she was so very kind and welcoming to me, she shared her time and memories of my dad (who died when I was four)willingly. I am so sorry for your loss and forever grateful for her kindness and time.
