Joseph Anthony  Silvestri
JOSEPH ANTHONY SILVESTRI, 85, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017, at his home. He was born in Newark, NJ, was raised in East Orange and had resided in Edison before settling in Jackson Twp. 12 years ago.
He worked for the Allstate Insurance Company in Clark, NJ, as an insurance agent for 41 years before retiring.
Joseph was a graduate of East Orange High School where he played varsity football. In addition, He was an avid New York Giants and New York Yankee fan.
Joseph proudly served as a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War and received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Ferdinando and Antoinette Silvestri, his brother, Pasquale Silvestri; and by his sister, Frances Petruzelli. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Edna; his daughters and son-in-law, Antoinette Gega of Howell Twp., NJ, and Debra and Steven Bunke of Newtown, PA; his sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Fred and Simona Silvestri of Hobe Sound, FL, and Joseph and Laurie Silvestri of Farmingdale, NJ; his sister, Carmella Tortorello of Cedar Grove, NJ; and by his 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation on Sunday, October 22, 2017, from 5-8 PM at the GEORGE S. HASSLR FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. A funeral gathering will be offered on Monday, October 23, 2017, at 9:00 AM at the funeral home. His funeral ceremony will follow at 11:00 AM in the mausoleum chapel of Resurrection Burial Park, Hoes Lane at E. Lincoln Ave., Piscataway, NJ.
