EILEEN RAKOCY, 97, formerly of Silvermead in Freehold Twp. passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017. She was born and raised in Jersey City, NJ, before settling in Freehold 20 years ago.
Eileen worked for the City of Jersey City in the Mayor’s office and the tax assessor’s office for 20 years, retiring in 1999.
Eileen was predeceased by her parents, John and Catherine (nee Sterling) Cannon; her daughter, Catherine Hayes in 2004; and by her husband, Bernard Rakocy in 1985. She is survived by her daughter, Denise Prongay of Jackson Twp., NJ ; her grandchildren, Elena DePaolo of Jackson Twp. and Bernard Hayes of Brick Twp; her great grandchildren, Tyler and Kyle DePaolo of Jackson Twp.: and by her brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Martha Cannon of Mahwah, NJ.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visitation on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM followed with her funeral service at 11:00 AM at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Rd., North Arlington, NJ.
