Obituary for John T. Lukaszewski

JOHN T. “LUKE” LUKASZEWSKI, age 73, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at Community Medical Center, Toms River, NJ. He was born in Bloomfield, NJ, and resided in Neptune City, NJ, before moving to Toms River 2 years ago.
John had a special and unique personality. He was blessed with a sense of humor, wit, compassion, and a kind heart.
He worked in Jersey City and Monmouth County for many years, transporting senior citizens to lunch sites and doctor’s appointments. They all loved John. They always wanted him to be their driver. He would have them laughing from the moment they met him, and again the next day, and the next.
John loved the Jersey Shore from Avon to Seaside. In his retirement years, he would spend many mornings reading his newspaper, playing his ipod, watching surfers and boaters and enjoying concerts at the beach.
He loved sports, especially Basketball. His nickname as a teen was “Hook” for the ease of his shot.
John was sometimes rough around the edges, voiced his opinions, but was always honest. People liked and respected him for that.
He will be deeply missed, and always in our hearts.
John is survived by his Wife of 41 years, Maryann Lukaszewski.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation on Sunday, October 8, 2017, from 2-4 PM at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. A funeral gathering will be offered at 8:30 AM on Monday, October 9, 2017, at the funeral home.
