Obituary for Walter Mininsohn
WALTER MININSOHN, 84, of Howell Twp., NJ, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2017, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, NJ. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, and resided in Lakewood, NJ, before moving to Howell 32 years ago.
Walter was employed as a union carpenter, Union Carpenter Local 2018, Ocean County, NJ, for 55 years, retiring in 1965. The local sent Walter throughout New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. He was a Trustee on the Board of Carpenters Local 2018 for 25 years.
He was predeceased by his Parents, Isidor and Celia Mininsohn; and his Brother, Jess Mininsohn. He is survived by his Wife of 64 years, Pearl; his Son, Dr. Eric S. Mininsohn of Howell, NJ; his Sisters, Mrs. Norma Weissberg of Brick, NJ, and Mrs. Frances Metz of Freehold, NJ; his Grandson, Daniel Mininsohn; his Sister-in-law, Mrs. Dorothy Mininsohn of Lakewood, NJ; his Nephew, Adam Goldfish of Poughkeepsie, NY; his Niece, Marilyn (Michael) Kanas of St. George, Utah; and by his many Nieces, Nephews, and Great Nieces and Nephews living in New Jersey and Alabama.
A funeral gathering will be offered at 2:30 PM on Sunday, June 25, 2017, at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. His Funeral Service will follow at 3 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Beth Olam Memorial Park, Route 70, Lakewood, NJ. Contributions may be made in Walter’s memory to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Ave., 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851.
