Obituary for Edward Joseph McDermott

EDWARD JOSEPH McDERMOTT, 85, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2017, at Bartley Healthcare in Jackson. He was born in the Bronx, NY, and resided in Hazlet, NJ, before moving to Jackson 5 years ago.
Edward was a dispatcher for Bilkay, Bayonne, NJ, before his retirement.
Edward proudly served in the United States Marines.
He was a communicant of The Church of St. Monica in Jackson.
Edward was predeceased by his Parents, Edward and Mae McDermott. He is survived by his Wife of 23 years, Mary; his Son, Douglas McDermott; his Daughter, Donna Hoagland and James Drower; his Stepsons, Kevin (Rochelle) Davies, Brian (Dianna) Davies, Barry (Sue) Davies, Terence (Laura) Davies, and Dennis Davies; his Stepdaughters, Kathy (Jan) Zavislak, Colleen (Jack) Dibble, Eileen (Brian) Rae, and Doreen (Doug) Jesseph; his 23 Grandchildren; and by his 15 Great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, from 4-7 PM at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. A funeral gathering will be offered at 8:30 Am on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at the funeral home. His Funeral Liturgy will follow at 9:45 Am at The Church of St. Monica, 679 W. Veterans Highway, Jackson, NJ. Interment will follow in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line, Arneytown, NJ.
