Obituary for Carmela Abela (Attard)
CARMELA ABELA, 80, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017, at Bartley Healthcare, Jackson, NJ. She was born in Valetta, Malta, and resided in Brooklyn, NY, before moving to Jackson 5 years ago.
Carmela was employed as a cafeteria worker by the New York City Board of Education for 11 years prior to her retirement in 1997.
She was predeceased by her Parents, Paul and Paula Attard. She is survived by her Husband of 60 years, Joseph Abela; her Son, Joe Abela and his Wife, Debbie of Jackson Twp., NJ; her Daughters, Roberta Standal and her Husband, Chris of Wayne, NJ, and Liz Davi and her Husband, Sal of Middletown, NJ; and by her 5 Grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visitation on Saturday, June 17, 2017, from 1-5 PM at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. Her Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 9:30 AM on Monday, June 19, 2017, at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 935 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson, NJ. Please meet at church at 9:15 AM. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 1 Honey Locust Dr., Lakewood, NJ. For directions, further information, and to send condolence messages to the family, please select a tab on the left.
