Obituary for Anne M. Imperiale (Brienza)

Anne M. Imperiale (Brienza)
ANNE MARIE IMPERIALE, 93, of Jackson, NJ, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017. She was born Anna Brienza on April 5, 1924, in Brooklyn, NY, to Rose (a homemaker) and Frank (a launderer) Brienza. Anne was raised in Brooklyn along with older sister Madeline (deceased) and younger sister Theresa. She graduated from New Utrecht High School in 1942 and worked as a telephone operator for Abraham and Strauss Department Stores. In 1950, she married Louis E. Imperiale (deceased) of Brooklyn, NY. She was a homemaker for her husband and three children and served as a volunteer school librarian. After her husband’s early and untimely death, she assumed dual parenting roles for her children. After her children were grown, Anne moved to York, PA, to be near her extended family. While in York, she enjoyed gardening, shopping, taking trips with her sister Madeline, and most of all, family gatherings, during which time her house was full and she tirelessly prepared sumptuous, multiple course meals and delighted in updates on family and friends. She loved a good real-life story as either teller or listener. In 2011, she moved to Jackson, NJ, to be closer to her youngest grandson, Stephen. During her later years, she enjoyed taking walks, watching figure skating and “Dancing with the Stars,” and betting on horses at the Monmouth racetrack. Throughout her life, her immediate and extended family remained most important to her. John 12:26 must come to mind when one thinks of Anne and her sacrificial service to her children and to the people’s lives she touched: Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me. Anne showed her enduring faith in God through serving others and her vibrant prayer life.
Anne is survived by her children, Thomas (Martha), Rosanne (John), and Andrew (Irene); and grandchildren, Louis, Nick, and Stephen. She also leaves her sister, Theresa Izzo; nieces, Andrea Rawls, Christine Coggeshall, Carol Doersam and Felicia Rivera; and nephew, Peter Izzo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis E. Imperiale; sister, Madeline Melato; and nephew, Raymond Melato.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visitation from 1-4 PM with her Funeral Service at 3:15 PM on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. For directions, further information, and to send condolence messages to the family, please select a tab on the left.
