Obituary for Francis J. "Frank" Durkin
FRANCIS J. “FRANK” DURKIN, 71, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2017, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Twp., NJ. He was born in Kearney, NJ, and resided in Nutley, NJ, before moving to Jackson 35 years ago.
Frank was employed as a draftsman at Merlin Industries, Inc., Hamilton, NJ, for 15 years before his retirement. Prior to that, he was employed by Spartan Aqualon Corp. for 11 years and Major Pool Corp. for 12 years. He attended St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Freehold Twp. and Clemson University. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, receiving numerous medals.
Frank was predeceased by his Parents, Francis and Evelyn Durkin. He is survived by his Wife, Patricia Jennings Durkin who had been his partner for 38 years; his Sons and Daughters-in-law, Brian and Christina Durkin of Toms River Twp., NJ, and Brian and Jessica Jennings of Neptune, NJ; his Daughters and Sons-in-law, Stacey and Robert Constantino of Manahawkin, NJ, Carey and Michael Luciano of Toms River Twp., NJ, and Jessica Jennings and Matt Przybyl of Higganum, CT; his Grandchildren, Brent, Braydon, Aubrie, Abbey, Ashley, and Kristopher; his Sister, Pamela Gabriel of Mt. Pleasant, SC; and his Brothers and Sister-in-law, Donald and Holly Durkin of Spencer, MA, and William Durkin of CA.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation on Monday, January 23, 2017, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. A funeral gathering will be offered at 9:30 AM on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at the funeral home. His Funeral Liturgy will follow at 11 AM at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Rd., Freehold, Twp., NJ. A private cremation will follow. Memorial contributions may be made in Frank’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
