Obituary for Manuel "Manny" DaConceicao

Manuel "Manny"  DaConceicao
MANUEL “Manny” DACONCEICAO, 83, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2016, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune Twp., NJ. He was born and raised in Carteret, NJ, then moved to Woodbridge, NJ, where he was an elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Woodbridge and served on the Board of Finance. He then moved to Jackson Twp., where he was a charter member of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church.
After 26 years of service at H. F. Butler Corporation, he retired as a Plant Manager over two facilities. He was also Secretary of the company and a member of the Board of Directors.
Manny was a Corporal in the United States Army serving in the 8th army, stationed in Korea. He was a communications officer and Marksman.
He played semi-pro football with the Woodbridge Golden Bears, playing both offense and defense. He was Republican County Committeeman in the 26th district, Jackson from 2002 until 2008. Manny was an avid golfer, bowler and along with his wife, winners on the first bocci team at Westlake Golf and Country Club in Jackson Twp.
He is survived by his childhood sweetheart, Vernice Jelicks DaConceicao whom he was married to for 61 years; his four Daughters, Susan Bross, Shirley Howell, Sharon Day and Sharlene Nelson; his Grandchildren, Amy Jarrett, Joseph Bross, Glenn Howell, Theresa Howell, Brent Van Bramer, Kyle Van Bramer, Dylan Nelson and Julia Nelson; his Great Grandchildren, Haley Jarrett and Rose Walenciak; and by his Brother, Albert DaConceicao.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his memorial visitation on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, from 6-9 PM with his Memorial Service with Military Honors at 8 PM at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527.
