Thomas W.  Van Nosdall
DR. THOMAS W. VAN NOSDALL, 58, of Howell Twp., NJ, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2015, at home after a 10 year courageous battle with cancer. Thomas was born in Manhattan, NY, and resided in Jackson Twp., NJ, before settling in Howell Twp. 22 years ago.
Thomas was a 1975 Graduate of CBA. He attended American College of Switzerland and graduated from Franklin Pierce College in New Hampshire. He attended UMDNJ-NJ Dental School where he met the love of his life, Donna Bloomer, and earned a DMD degree in 1984.
Thomas was a self-employed dentist with his General Dentistry Practice in Brick Twp., NJ, for 25 years, before retiring in 2013. Prior to that, he was employed as a general dentist for Freehold Family Dental for 5 years.
He was treasurer of St. Aloysius Holy Name Society. He previously was on the Parish Council and St. Aloysius Building and Grounds Committee. He was also a member of the CBA Alumni Fathers’ Club.
Tom enjoyed hosting family parties, was a wonderful cook and baker, and loved to spend time with his family. He enjoyed vacationing in Disney World with his wife and kids, who thought of him as the Best Dad Ever.
The family would like to thank Dr. and Mrs. Kenneth Nahum and staff, as well as the staff of Brennan 6 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center for the compassionate care they provided.
He was predeceased by his Parents, Warren and Florence Van Nosdall; his beloved Aunt and Uncle, Grace and Frank Porco; and his Father-in-law, Walter Bloomer, Sr. He is survived by his Wife of over 30 years, Donna Van Nosdall; his Son, Stephen Van Nosdall of Orlando, FL; his Daughters, Becky Van Nosdall and her fiancé, Aron White of Orlando, FL, and Sarah Van Nosdall of Howell Twp.; his Brothers, Michael Van Nosdall and his Wife, Suzanne of Falling Waters, WV, and James Van Nosdall of East Stroudsburg, PA; his Sisters, Pat Burke of Clarksville, TN, and Kathryn Mueller and her Husband, Gary of Jackson Twp.; his Mother-in-law, Marie Rose Bloomer of Wall, NJ; his 7 Nieces and 3 Nephews; his several great nieces and great nephews; his extended family of in-laws, who loved him like a brother, Pat and John Osinski, Ginny Minnich, Wally and Patti Bloomer, Marie Rose Bloomer and William Watson.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation on Thursday, September 24, 2015, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. A funeral gathering will be offered on Friday, September 25, 2015, at 9:30 AM at the funeral home. His Funeral Liturgy will follow at 10:30 AM at St. Aloysius RC Church, 935 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson, NJ. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 56-80 Cedar Grove Rd., Toms River, NJ. If so desired, donations may be made in Thomas’ name to the Sandra M. Glazier Scholarship Fund, make checks payable to Princeton Area Community Foundation, with Sandra M. This foundation generously awarded the $20,000.00 scholarship to Tom and Donna’s daughter, Sarah, in 2014 and they wish to give back and help other families affected by cancer.
