William G.  Engel
WILLIAM G. ENGEL, 86, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2014, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, NJ, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Herrington, Kansas, and grew up in Oklahoma.
He served in the United States Army prior to the Korean War. He met and married Ruth L. Foeri in 1954. He resided in Middletown, Holmdel, and Aberdeen before settling in Jackson Twp. 9 years ago.
William graduated from Rutgers in 1962 with a degree in chemistry. He was a chemist for P. Balantine and Sons. He was a master brewer and plant manager at Enzyme Development Corp. for many years before becoming a franchise owner of the 7-Eleven in Keyport. After retirement he worked part-time at the Comfort Inn in Middletown.
He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Middletown where he served in the past as an Elder.
William was predeceased by his Parents, David and Maltilda Engel; his Brother, Jack Engel; and by his Son-in-law, Jeffery Waldron. He is survived by his Wife of 60 years, Ruth L. Engel of Jackson Twp.; his Daughters, Gail Waldron of Cream Ridge, NJ, Kimberly Engel and her Partner, Brian Drinkwater of Middletown, and Donna Wolfesburger and her Husband, Scott of Highlands, NJ; and his Granddaughters, Leah L. Waldron and Jessalyn H. Waldron.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation on Thursday, August 14, 2014, from 1-4 PM with a Funeral Service following at 4 PM at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. A private cremation will follow. If so desired, contributions may be made to the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 94 Tindall Rd., Middletown, NJ 07748.
